KUDOS: Praising positives in our community
Margaret Carr walked into Hardin Memorial Hospital more than a decade ago and walked out a volunteer.
After 14 years of service, the 90-year-old still is volunteering about 20 hours a week providing much-needed services to the hospital and its patients and visitors.
She is part of a small army of volunteers, about 140 in all, who equal the work of 17 full-time employees, HMH President and CEO Dennis Johnson said.
“However, the love, support and care they provide patients is impossible to measure,” he said.
It’s true.
Anyone who has ever been to the hospital has felt the love and care these volunteers provide, either at the gift shop, reception desks or those who escort visitors through the building.
Last week was National Healthcare Volunteer Week and Margaret Carr is just one example of why Hardin Memorial Health, its staff and patients are fortunate to have them.
