An opportunity to shop while giving back will be offered today and Tuesday at the State Theater in Elizabethtown through a White Daisy Boutique pop up sale. Taking place in the Plum Room of the State Theater, some proceeds from the sale will benefit the Baptist Health Hardin Auxiliary.
“We hope that it will be a successful fundraising event in order to be able to assist Baptist Health Hardin Hospital with their needs, especially during this time of COVID-19,” Baptist Health Hardin Auxiliary president Becky Grant said. “This event is open to the public, so we hope that the public will help us in assisting our hospital.”
Based out of Hazard, the White Daisy Boutique will be selling clothing items ranging from rompers to cardigans to jeans. The sale is from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. today and 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. Tuesday.
Safety precautions at the event will include social distancing and a face mask requirement.
According to Grant, this is second time the auxiliary has partnered with White Daisy Boutique. A sale previously took place last December in Baptist Health Hardin’s cafeteria and a second sale initially was planned for April, but was canceled due to COVID-19, she said.
Primarily receiving funding from Baptist Health Hardin’s gift shop, the health system’s auxiliary has taken a financial hit this year, Grant said. The gift shop was closed from March until June and currently is operating under modified hours.
However, Grant said the gift shop will debut an online store by Nov. 1.
“This will allow friends and loved ones of patients to purchase gifts to be delivered to the room since there is now limited visitation,” she said.
Made up of volunteers, the Baptist Health Hardin Auxiliary assists its namesake healthcare system both in services and through the donation of needed resources. Volunteers currently are not able to assist at hospital staff because of COVID-19.
“After the COVID-19 restrictions are removed, we hope that many will be interested in giving their support by joining the Auxiliary volunteers,” Grant said.
