The HMH Medical Group announced the addition of Dr. Bart Dawson, an invasive cardiologist, to the HMH Central Cardiology Associate team.
A Bullitt County native, Dawson has more than 10 years of invasive cardiology experience gained while practicing in a large, diverse metropolitan group.
“Growing health care systems like HMH in growing regions like Central Kentucky should offer patients a strong, multi-disciplined cardiology service line,” said Tom Hustead, M.D., medical director of the HMH Medical Group. “Today HMH cardiologists see a large volume of cardiology both in the hospital and in clinic. To have an invasive cardiologist, especially one with Dr. Dawson’s experience, on the team is a huge win.”
Dawson will provide patients with general cardiology services with a special focus on treating arrhythmias with devices such as automatic internal cardioverter defibrillators and pacemakers. The hospital’s announcement said he also provides regular device monitoring and equipment maintenance.
“The best and most successful cardiology programs rely on many other medical disciplines and on a strong system to help patients have the best outcomes,” Dawson said in the news release. “I am grateful to join a such a progressive organization like HMH that is committed to building the strongest team of health care providers possible.”
He want on to praise the HMH commitment to excellence and said it’s “why I joined the HMH team.”
Dawson graduated from the University of Louisville Medical School. He completed his residency at University of Louisville Hospital and a cardiology fellowship at the University of Kentucky. He is board certified by the American College of Cardiolog and certified as a cardiac device specialist by the International Board of Heart Rhythm Examiners.
According to the release, Dawson sees patients by appointment at HMH Medical Group Central Cardiology Associates’ Elizabethtown office at 1324 Woodland Drive and on Tuesdays in Marion County at 325 W. Walnut St. in Lebanon.
