HMHF Awarded $110K Grant for SANE Program

Hardin Memorial Health Foundation received a $110,000 Victims of Crime Act (VOCA) grant from the Kentucky Justice and Public Safety Cabinet to dramatically expand HMH’s Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner (SANE) Program. The SANE program provides specialized care for sexual assault victims presented to the 4th busiest Emergency Department in Kentucky. This includes caring for their emotional and physical needs while protecting their integrity and dignity.

The VOCA Grant will be used:

to purchase a colposcopy, advanced equipment for sexual assault victim exams and evidence collection/documentation;
to fund additional staff positions to provide 24-hour SANE availability; and
to provide training and certification for SANE nurses.
