Hardin Memorial Health’s centralized respiratory clinic has seen more than 100 patients in less than seven days of operation, hospital officials say.
In an effort to better protect patients, as well as staff and the community during the COVID-19 pandemic, the clinic provides specialized care to referred patients with respiratory symptoms.
As of Monday, the temporary respiratory clinic, which saw its first patient March 20, had seen 109 patients. The HMH Medical Group set up the temporary, pop-up clinic to address the potential influx of respiratory patients related to COVID-19 and other respiratory illnesses
“We have been caring for patients at the temporary respiratory clinic since March 20, and the experience has been overwhelmingly positive,” said Thomas Hustead, M.D., medical director for HMH Medical Group.
“The clinic provides a location for us to care for our respiratory patients while mitigating exposure to our community in our primary care, urgent care locations or the emergency department,’’ he said.
The respiratory clinic, at 1004 Woodland Drive, is open 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday. The space has specially been outfitted as a drive thru for referred patients experiencing respiratory symptoms such as fever, cough, or shortness of breath.
