IMPROVING CARE, ENHANCING COMMUNITY

Baptist Health Hardin, formerly Hardin Memorial Hospital (HMH), opened its doors in February 1954 thanks to the vision, hard work and perseverance of the Elizabethtown Lions Club. Because of Elizabethtown’s proximity to the large healthcare systems in Metro Louisville and because Hardin County, Kentucky is geographically large and the surrounding areas very rural, many residents did not think our region needed, could afford or sustain a hospital.  However, civic leadership prevailed and Baptist Health Hardin opened with 81 beds, 61 employees and 24 medical staff.

The Baptist Health Foundation Hardin continues this heritage of service and leadership by fostering partnerships to further enhance the quality medical care provided by the hospital. Donations to the Foundation help our physicians, staff and other care providers go beyond the medical needs of our patients.

Private support provides funds for new facilities, advanced technology and equipment, and specialized training for physicians, nurses and staff. It also provides funds for complementary therapies, support groups, community health screenings and extra services that make a patient’s hospital stay more comfortable.
