Congratulations to Dr. Bill Nash on 31 years of service with Hardin Memorial Health. Dr. Nash is retiring this year as an orthopedic surgeon practicing at HMH’s Elizabethtown Orthopedics.
He graduated from the University of Missouri and received his medical training at the University of Nebraska Medical Center in 1976. Dr. Nash completed his internship at Letterman Army Medical Center and his residency in Orthopedic Surgery at Brooke Army Medical Center. After 26 years of service, both active and reserve, Dr. Nash retired with the rank of Colonel from the United States Army Reserves.
He and his wife, Marilou, have four children and have called Elizabethtown home for more than 30 years. Dr. Nash has been involved in numerous civic organizations including Rotary, United Way and the Kentucky Food Bank.
In 2015, Dr. Nash joined the HMH Foundation Board of Directors and serves as Board Secretary because he strongly believes in the mission of the Foundation to provide leadership and resources to strengthen Hardin Memorial Health.
Dr. Nash calls the leaders who established HMH some 60 years ago pioneers and visionaries.
“That was truly a landmark decision that transformed medical care and this community. We’re doing the same thing but on a smaller scale,” he said. “We are building on their dream, but it will take everyone’s help.”
Nash said the future lies in the hands of the community of nurses, employees, doctors, businesses, and citizens working together.
“We’re the ones who can ensure that Hardin Memorial continues to be the best healthcare system in the region,” he said. “It is really ‘Our HMH.’”
In addition to earning numerous military awards including two Physician Recognition Awards, Dr. Nash is a member of various professional societies including the American Board of Orthopedic Surgeons, the Louisville Orthopedic Society and past president of the Kentucky Orthopedic Society and the Hardin-LaRue Medical Society. He is currently the Chairman of the Board, First Citizens Bank Director of Farmers Capital Bank and is a longstanding Kentucky Colonel.
Congratulations Dr. Nash on an outstanding medical career, and we are grateful for your continued work as part of the HMH Foundation Board of Directors. Enjoy your well-earned retirement!
