Kayi Lewis from Cecilia, Kentucky would be the first to tell you – she never expected a cancer diagnosis.
In January 2017, Lewis went to HMH Emergency Department for abdominal pain. A few days later, she was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer.
While the diagnosis came as a shock, she along with her husband, family and a community of supporters were up for the fight. One very important supporter was her dear friend and HMHF Board Member Mimi Hornback who encouraged Lewis to see medical oncologist Adam Lye, M.D. at the HMH Cancer Care Center.
Lewis credits Hornback with helping her find outstanding care close to home.
