PUMPED ABOUT HMH EVENT. In four short years, a fashion show staged by Hardin Memorial Health and the HMH Foundation has become an annual local favorite.
It’s more than a fundraiser. Purses, Pumps and Prevention has become a source of encouragement for cancer sufferers. It raises awareness about the disease and demonstrates that it’s possible to thrive as well as survive following a cancer diagnosis.
The models are at various points in their personal battle with the dreaded disesase. Seeing each one walk across the stage under the spotlight illustrates an individual moment of triumph.
The social event also features a dinner, marketplace and dessert bar. Proceeds this year will go toward helping HMH purchase prosthetic breast form samples and a display, allowing breast cancer patients to be fitted and cared for close to home. In previous years, the money raised through the event went toward HMH’s cancer resource center and Paxman cooking caps.
But money is only one part of the riches this event provides.
