COLONELS CONTRIBUTE The title Kentucky Colonel is an honorary distinction presented by the state since 1813 in recognition of noteworthy accomplishments and outstanding service to a community, state or the nation.
Being a member of the Honorary Order of Kentucky Colonels is something else yet again. Anyone named as a Kentucky Colonel is eligible to join this dues-based, voluntary philanthropic organization. The few that do are among the state’s great do-gooders.
One example of their benevolence is the new harness system at Hardin Memorial Health’s Therapy and Sports Medicine Center. The Solo-Step Fall Prevention System helps provide standing balance during step training.
The center received the new system as a gift from the Colonels to the Hardin Memorial Health Foundation. It’s the only one of its kind in the 10-county region served by HMH.
It provides security and safety for patients undergoing rehabilitation. Removing the fear of falling helps achieve greater gains in therapy and avoids injury.
The two charities, working together, have provided another great service to this community.
