Elizabethtown Orthopedic Associates
Dr. William “Bill” Nash is an orthopedic surgeon practicing at Hardin Memorial Health’s Elizabethtown Orthopedics. He graduated from the University of Missouri and received his medical training at the University of Nebraska Medical Center in 1976. Dr. Nash completed his internship at Letterman Army Medical Center and his residency in Orthopaedic Surgery at Brooke Army Medical Center. After 26 years of service, both active and reserve, Dr. Nash retired with the rank of Colonel from the United States Army Reserves.
He and his wife, Marilou, have four children and have called Elizabethtown home for more than 29 years. Dr. Nash has been involved in numerous civic organizations including Rotary, United Way and the Kentucky Food Bank. Most recently, Dr. Nash joined the HMH Foundation Board of Directors because he believes strongly in the mission of the foundation to fund breakthrough initiatives to transform HMH to be a top-notch, modern, healthcare facility in the 21st century.
Dr. Nash calls the leaders who established HMH some 60 years ago pioneers and visionaries.
“That was truly a landmark decision that transformed medical care and this community. We’re doing the same thing but on a smaller scale. We are building on their dream , but it will take everyone’s help. It’s going to take a community of nurses, employees, doctors, businesses and everyone working together to make sure that Hardin Memorial continues to be the best healthcare system in the region,” he said. It is really “Our HMH”.
While the impact of the HMH system is certainly regional, the rewards of serving the Foundation will come one transformational initiative at a time.
“The joy comes from when a patient goes into the hospital and gets better because of the excellent doctors, modern facilities and outstanding services. You can’t put a value on that, especially if it’s your child or your family member.”
In addition to earning numerous military awards including two Physician Recognition Awards, Dr. Nash is a member of various professional societies including the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgeons, the Louisville Orthopaedic Society and past president of the Kentucky Orthopedic Society and the Hardin-LaRue Medical Society. He is currently the Chairman of the Board, First Citizens Bank Director of Farmers Capital Bank and is a longstanding Kentucky Colonel.
