Elizabethtown
President
HMH Auxiliary
Hardin Memorial Health Auxiliary President Pat Howell was born in Hardin County and has lived in Elizabethtown for most of her life.
Throughout this time, she has dedicated herself to her family and to support her hometown. She believes in having a strong sense of community pride and service, and understands from experience the many benefits of having first-in-class healthcare close to home.
“Both of my parents only lived until their early 70s because they didn’t have access to the advanced facilities and cutting-edge equipment that HMH offers,” Pat said.
In fact, only one of the five siblings in her family was born at a hospital – at HMH when it opened in 1954.
“Now, thanks to Hardin Memorial Health, we have some of the best specialists and surgeons available, and are continuing to recruit the best in all specialties,” Pat said. “The vision and growth of Hardin Memorial Health will allow my generation and generations to come to have access to excellent health care.”
Before Pat retired in 2010, she worked at Hosparus in medical records, assisting the Volunteer Coordinator and with fundraising events.
Since her retirement, Pat has been active with her church and community volunteer opportunities, such as the Hardin County Performing Arts, RSVP Advisory Board, Women’s Club of Elizabethtown and the HMH Auxiliary. She served as Auxiliary Vice President for two terms before becoming president this year.
“I consider it a great honor to serve as president of the HMH Auxiliary and to serve on the Board of Directors for HMH Foundation,” she said.
Pat and her husband George have four children, five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
