Elizabethtown
Vice Chair
President & CEO
Hartlage Management Company
James “Jim” V. Hartlage Jr. is an Elizabethtown native, graduated from Elizabethtown Catholic High School and earned his chemistry degree from Oglethorpe University. He began his career in product development and management at Dow Corning in Elizabethtown and in Michigan. He is the Founder, President and CEO of Accumetric, LLC, Chairman of the Board of Hardec’s Distribution, Hartlage Properties, AHH! LLC, Lentus LLC, Progeny LLC and Advent LLC. He also co-founded Fort Knox National Company.
To say Jim Hartlage’s service on the HMH Foundation Board is one steeped in personal history would be an understatement. He is literally carrying out his father’s legacy. More than 60 years ago, James Hartlage Sr. and fellow community leaders championed the need for a hospital.
“My dad and other community leaders saw a need and were determined to build a hospital for the residents with the help of the community and the local organizations,” Jim said.
Today, Jim wants the HMH Foundation to help keep HMH strong.
“It’s not just a little 81-bed county hospital anymore. It’s a robust healthcare system with extremely well-qualified doctors that is continually adding more and more services that benefit all of us,” he said. “We have to do our part to help it succeed for all of us and for generations to come.”
Those future generations include Jim and his wife, Jacque’s three children and their seven grandchildren.
In addition to his service on the HMH Foundation Board, Jim has served on many civic, bank and corporate boards, is a Trustee of Oglethorpe University and was named Elizabethtown Small Businessman of the Year in 1987.
