Angela Ballard became the newest member of the Hardin Memorial Health Foundation board of directors.
The advanced practice registered nurse at HMH Medical Group’s Bardstown Family Medical Center joins 25 other board members.
“We are so glad Angela decided to share her unique perspective and experience by serving on the foundation board,” said Joe Prather, HMHF Board Chairman. “She is a beloved caregiver in the HMH system and also a pillar of the Nelson County community. Angela will be an energizing addition to our already strong group.”
Ballard graduated from Louisville’s Spalding University with a bachelor’s and a master’s degree in nursing. Her mother, a longtime nurse at Bardstown Family Medical Center, inspired her to enter the field. Ballard began her career as a staff nurse in Louisville and then returned to Bardstown to work at Family Medical Center as a patient education nurse/staff nurse. She continued her education and later became an APRN.
Ballard said her passion for patient care and giving back to her community led her to join the HMH Foundation board.
“I am happy to join this group of strong regional leaders who are accomplishing amazing things for HMH patients,” Ballard said. “Becoming a part of the HMH Foundation Board of Directors is another way I can help ensure families in Nelson County and across the region have even stronger health care for generations to come.”
Ballard and her husband, Michael, live in Bardstown and have four children and five grandchildren. Her honors and accomplishments include a research article published in Oncology Nursing Forum. She was named the American Cancer Society public education volunteer of the year, is a member of the Kentucky Coalition of Nurse Practitioners/Nurse Midwives and is certified with the American Nurses Credentialing Center.
Since it was re-established in 2015, the HMH Foundation has raised more than $3 million and has invested in the HMH Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU), a pediatric therapeutic playground, 3D mammography and more.
Most recently, it invested $29,693 to construct, furnish and equip a new HMH cancer care resource center located at the HMH Cancer Care Center in Elizabethtown. This new center will help cancer patients and their caregivers find information, support and items they need.
